Reading List

After reading Legacy of Ashes: The History of the CIA I promptly was presented by a coworker with Stephen Coll's Ghost Wars.

It appears my attempts to work in more light reading into rotation is failing. That said Legacy is worth a look. Reading about the constant intelligence failures is incredibly frustrating. The reader finds himself in the odd position of hoping they finally get some of their clandestine missions right. Still I must admit, I had no idea just how many places the CIA had run missions in. Particularly interesting for me was the CIA's involvement in Revolution in Iran. Also for those interested in a primer on the CIA, it's not a bad place to start.

For what it's worth here is the review from the CIA website. Not surprisingly, they are not big fans as it does portray quite badly.

I've more or less just begun Ghost Wars but so far it's fascinating... more to come.

just remember... if they are getting right, you're not gonna hear about it.
