The last Oprah Show on regular television aired a few days ago. Needless to say hearts were broken across the USA. Though not a regular viewer, I always enjoyed the makeover shows for some reason. Also the celebrity interviews were often fun. Celebrities like Chris Rock weighed to her. During one of the send-off programs Jamie Foxx mentioned that many men are fans of Oprah. I was extremely happy to hear someone else admit this. This for me was the single best part of the sendoff.
While her fluctuating weight brought joy and materials to comedians, most people begrudge her respect. Careers like that don't happen often.Starting OWN is an ambitious undertaking especially since she herself will not star in a show but she has hordes of followers for support. Can a presidential run be far behind?

Signs That I'm a Middle Age Women Secretly #4
I bought today's (Sunday's) New York Times. While I was excited about the illuminating articles on world affairs, profiles on Japan's Christian population (who knew?), what I was probably most excited about was clipping coupons.

I also enjoy watching NBC's the Bachelor. This show is based on a bunch of women from smart to normal to embarrassing are attempting to charm the Bachelor, a good looking, and perhaps most important, rich guy. The primary appeal of the show for me (like most reality shows) are the train wrecks: these are the people the producers had on who were clearly chosen because they'd have loose lips and talk some serious trash to the other contestants or have one too many appletini's. Thanks Defamer.

Via Netflix we just saw season 3 of Bravo's popular series Project Runway and really enjoyed it. It's important to note that I have no fashion sense - if I'm not naked I'm more or less good to go.
Unlike most reality shows, the show is appealing because it's a competition based on a real skill, and the show helps to show how much thought goes into high-end designs. (Granted, they always bring aboard a couple of skilled people who are clearly meant to be the cause of friction such as Santino, or Vincent.)

While I don't have a subscription to Oprah magazine, I secretly watch her when I'm at home sick and appreciate when she reminds me to remember my spirit. Also fantastic - the makeovers - truly remarkable.
