Sad or Awesome: Conan O'Brien Moving To TBS

Per the Washington Post:

NEW YORK -- Late-night mainstay Conan O'Brien is headed to TBS to resume his comedic duties with a talk show expected to debut in November, the network says.
The program will air Mondays through Thursdays at 11 p.m. Eastern, shifting TBS' "Lopez Tonight," starring George Lopez, to midnight.

Fox was most often mentioned as the frontrunner to bring Conan onboard. Apparently affiliates weren't too excited to have him as their lead in though - their loss though. My initital reaction of the move to TBS was immediate sadness, followed by sullenness, then followed up by being gobsmacked. When I had cable I associated TBS with broadcasting only old sitcoms and Braves games. However, this isn't your grandma's TBS apparently. TBS now syndicates some top shows in the 18-49 demographic and features some original content.

Riding a wave of strong sitcoms and movies, TBS ranked as ad-supported cable’s #1 network in primetime delivery of adults 18-34 (599,000) for March. TBS garnered eight of ad-supported cable’s Top 10 movie telecasts for the month of March among adults 18-34, with a March 7 telecast of Old School taking the top spot. TBS boasted four of ad-supported cable’s Top 5 sitcoms for the quarter among adults 18-49, with Tyler Perry’s Meet the Browns leading a pack that also includesThe OfficeFriends and Seinfeld.
Now without reservation, I can call this awesome!
