New York Awesome #4: Foods of Our Time.

(Clockwise: Sauce, Fried Okra, Country Fried Steak, and Collard Greens)
Country Friend Steak Makes Me Swoon. There. I said it.
I was saying to a friend the other day that I could really go for some fried okra. The other recent craving came after seeing an episode of Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations in which he had some delicious looking Country Fried Steak in West Texas. Since coming to New York from the South, I'd only had it once or twice.

As divine providence would have it, we came across a great restaurant called Lobo in our neighborhood, Park Slope which served both. It is said that if you bring together three food things together it equals good times. Not only was there gravy and steak, but the meat was fried?

Now before you judge please note that the meal was entirely vegan. Just kidding, it was fried and glorious.

Spitzer Out: Paterson In

I've lived in New York for almost 6 years now. Up until now, I hadn't kept up with local politics. What I've learned is that Eliot Spitzer liked hookers and had plenty of enemies.

Everything I read on his replacement, David Paterson though, emphasizes how he's easy-going and soft like a teddy bear. What if the Teddy Bear is an evil Teddy Bear? Is there something about being a Governor in the Tri-State area that changes you?
